Some employees who accept new positions at UC Irvine may be eligible, upon advance approval, for reimbursement of moving expenses, removal expenses, and relocation allowances.
Some employees who accept new positions at UC Irvine may be eligible, upon advance approval, for reimbursement of the reasonable costs of moving household goods and personal effects to a new residence.
Removal expenses may be provided for certain new appointees to academic positions. UC Irvine may cover the full cost of removal of the personal library/laboratory equipment if it is made available to students and faculty.
Relocation Allowance is compensation intended to offset higher living costs in a new location. This amount may not exceed 25 percent of the employee's annualized base salary and is included in the eligible employee's gross income as taxable wages.
Coordinating with Purchasing
You should contact the Purchasing Department at least six weeks prior to the desired move date so that your new employee receives the best possible service.
Steps for making a payment to a vendor for a move that have been properly coordinated with Purchasing. It’s essential that you coordinate the moving of household / library / laboratory goods in advance with UCI Purchasing.
Reimbursable Moving Expenses
UCI will pay the vendor on behalf of the employee or reimburse the employee for the expenses detailed below when such costs are preauthorized, deemed reasonable and necessary, have been incurred during the employee's move, and are properly supported by original invoices and receipts.
