CSV Files can be Uploaded to Notes & Attachments

Sent to the KFS-Update mailing list on April 18, 2016

Campus users can now upload CSV and PDF files to the Notes and Attachments tab. This applies to all KFS documents that allow attachments. Previously, only PDF files were allowed for storage and security reasons.

To create a CSV file in Microsoft Excel, choose the "Comma Separated Value" option when saving your spreadsheet. You may upload the resulting file into their KFS document in the same way you would upload a PDF.

Sensitive and Personal Identity Information

As a reminder, avoid attaching documents that have sensitive or personal identity information, which is defined as an individual's name, address, or telephone number combined with any of the following:

  • Social Security Number or taxpayer ID number (e.g., W-9s)
  • Credit or debit card number
  • Financial/salary data
  • Driver's license number
  • Date of birth
  • Medical or health information protected under HIPAA
  • Student related data protected under FERPA
